Role of the Clerk and Comptroller

Florida's 68 independently elected Clerks of the Circuit Court and Comptrollers provide essential public services enhancing public safety, commerce, and access to justice.

Clerks and Comptrollers perform a wide range of record keeping, information management, and financial administration services for Florida’s judicial system and county government. In addition to serving as the Clerk of the Circuit Court, most also serve as the County Treasurer, Recorder, Auditor, Finance Officer, and Ex-Officio Clerk to the County Commission. Florida’s Clerks of Court and Comptrollers have nearly 1,000 statutory responsibilities and provide to their communities.
