Value Adjustment Board
The Walton County Value Adjustment Board (VAB) provides an independent forum for property owners to appeal their property value or the denial of an exemption, classification, or tax deferral. Each county in Florida has a Value Adjustment Board. The Walton County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller serves as Clerk to the VAB. The Board is composed of two County Commissioners, one School Board member, one citizen member appointed by the County Commission, and one citizen member appointed by the School Board.
VAB ORGANIZATIONAL HEARING NOTICE
YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that the VALUE ADJUSTMENT BOARD of Walton County, Florida, will conduct an ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Freeport Commons BCC Boardroom, located at 842 State Highway 20 East, Suite 118, Freeport, Florida 32439.
The purpose of the meeting is to adopt organizational rules and procedures for the Value Adjustment Board. Other matters to be considered include the election of a Chair, the appointment of special magistrates, and any other business that may properly come before the Board.
Copies of Rule Chapter 12D-9, Rule Chapter 12D-10, and general information regarding Florida's property tax system, the respective roles within the system, taxpayer opportunities to participate in the system, and property taxpayer rights and responsibilities will be made available at the meeting.
If any interested person should decide to appeal any decision of the Board with respect to any matter considered at such meeting, he or she will need a record of the proceedings and, for such purpose, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record should include the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
